Catarina Ferreira, Cello

Born in Portugal, Catarina Ferreira is a freelance cellist and cello teacher, currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has presented herself as a solo, chamber and orchestra cellist in many international venues, including in the United States of America, South Korea, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Netherlands, and Italy. Catarina is a regular substitute with Santa Cruz Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Sonnet Ensemble and Pocket Opera.

Catarina completed her Master of Music degree at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, Maryland, where she studied with Amit Peled. She received her Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, in Manchester, United Kingdom, where she studied with Karine Georgian. Additionally, Catarina participated in Masterclasses with Hannah Roberts, Emma Ferrand, Petr Prause, Vladimir Bukac, Bernard Gregor Smith, Marcio Carneiro, Paulo Gaio Lima, Miguel Rocha, Amit Peled, David Waterman and Matias de Oliveira Pinto.

Catarina has received awards from the Rotary Club of Portugal, GDA Direitos dos Artistas and the American Club of Lisbon.
