Arlyn Knapic, Viola

Arlyn Knapic is a prominent freelance violinist and violist in the Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. She is the violist for the Monterey String Quartet and has performed throughout California for the past decade as an orchestral member, chamber musician and recording musician, performing locally with groups such as the Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus, The Western Stage, I Cantori di Carmel and Ensemble Monterey. Enjoying various styles of playing, Ms. Knapic has also performed with local singer/songwriters and bluegrass bands.

Passionate about sharing her love of music, Ms. Knapic maintains an active private studio at the Monterey Peninsula Academy of Music. She has taken training courses in Dalcroze method and the Suzuki method, and is an active member of the local Monterey County branch of the Music Teachers Association of California.

Ms. Knapic holds a BA in English with a minor in music from University of California Santa Barbara, and an MA in Violin Performance from San Jose State University. Her former teachers include Mildred Kline, Ronald Copes of the Juilliard String Quartet, Cecily Ward of the Cypress String Quartet and Diane Nicholeris of the San Francisco Symphony.
